Chambers County, DEC Recognized for FM 1409 Project

Congratulations to Chambers County for winning an ASHE Houston Project of the Year Award at the society's gala in January. The FM 1409 roadway extension project won in the Under $20 Million category.

DEC was recognized for its engineering work and Texas Sterling Construction was honored as construction contractor.

The new roadway, which included 4 miles of 2-lane undivided highway and a 6-span bridge over I-10, was designed to relieve congestion by providing a continuous link from Old River-Winfree to FM 565 west of Cove. It improves safety, mobility and accessibility in and around Chambers County and supports economic growth.

DEC staff members Johan Petterson, Larry Marr and Blair Stocker are pictured with County Judge Jimmy Sylvia and county commissioners Tommy Hammond, Ryan Dagley, Mark Tice and Jimmy Gore.
