WE ARE DEC
WHAT WE DO
Engineering Excellence since 1945
We’ve built a solid reputation as a premier civil engineering firm with experience in public infrastructure, surface transportation, land development, hydrology and hydraulics, airports, ports, and harbors.
By understanding and responding to client needs, we strive to deliver engineering excellence, build enduring relationships and improve Texas communities. We have a long history of developing innovative and sustainable projects.
We’re proud of our project performance, which has benefited our clients and the communities where we work. Our projects provide safe water and sewer systems, address subsidence, protect communities from flooding and keep Texas moving on land, on the sea and in the air.
Streamlining through technology
We use leading-edge technology to streamline project planning, design and construction. By using GIS (Geographic Information System) to gather, manage and analyze data, we can identify and resolve potential engineering, environmental and planning problems well in advance.
We use the following GIS tools to provide field data collection insights and applications, as well as enterprise databases and GIS solutions to assist our clients with managing their projects.

WHO WE ARE
We’ve always been more than an engineering firm. We team with clients and others to find innovative solutions to make communities better. Through the decades, we’ve partnered to provide safe water and sewer systems, address subsidence, and identify ways to fund mass transit and highway projects.
We Are DEC
Formerly Dannenbaum Engineering Corp., we've changed our name to DE Corp. – DEC for short – to reflect our modern, strong, employee-owned company while honoring our founders and 75-year history. It’s the next step in a phased corporate identity refresh that began in mid-2020.
A Legacy of Innovation
Founder and innovator Joseph B. Dannenbaum developed and patented the energy-efficient solar aerobic wastewater treatment process in the 1950s. His son, Jim Dannenbaum, served as president for more than 50 years, a period of remarkable growth for the company.
Making Communities Better
In the 1950s-‘60s the company played a leadership role in addressing public health concerns in Houston by establishing entities to fund residential water and sewer services, including for Acres Homes, a historic African American community established during World War I.
We strive to deliver engineering excellence, we build enduring relationships, and we positively impact the communities where we work.
