DeCorp's FlatWire Ready Wiring Wins Popular Science "Best What's New" Award in Home Technology for 2001

DeCorp Americas, Inc., creator of FlatWire Ready innovative wiring and interconnect technologies, today announced that it has been named a "Best of What's New" award winner in the home technology category for 2001 by Popular Science magazine. The winners of the 14th annual awards will be featured in the magazine's "Best of What's New" December issue on newsstands November 13.

DeCorp's FlatWire Ready wiring and interconnects are one of nine products highlighted in the issue's Best of Home Technology products category. DeCorp announced in January 2001, its plans to revolutionize the $200 billion wiring industry by marketing its FlatWire Ready patented product line. The new products represent a radical departure from conventional round wiring systems that are based upon hundred-year-old technology.

Unlike traditional wiring systems, the DeCorp flat wire technology utilizes ultra-thin parallel conductors insulated on each side by polyester film for audio, voice/data, electrical, cable television (CATV), or other low voltage signals. DeCorp's 15-amp electrical wire, for instance, is only 8/1000-inch thin (8 mil) - less than the thickness of a business card - compared to conventional wire, which can be up to a half-inch (500 mil) thick. DeCorp's products are mounted directly on walls, ceilings and other surfaces, and then painted or wallpapered over to become virtually invisible.

"We are honored to be singled out for this distinction among the thousands of products that were introduced this year," said Robert Sexton, president, CEO and chairman of DeCorp. "With FlatWire Ready, we have complete flat wiring and interconnect systems to connect from conventional outlets and devices to conventional devices safely, aesthetically and with thought given to getting connections where the consumer needs them in a safe, easy and cost efficient manner," said Sexton.

Each year, editors at Popular Science , which boasts a circulation of 1.6 million-plus, examine thousands of new products and technology developments and choose 100 of the best in 10 different categories. The winners are all products that in some way improve the quality of life-whether the product or technology is intended to entertain, heal the sick, or advance the body of human knowledge.

DeCorp's flat speaker wire, called DeWire, is scheduled to ship by the end of the year. Other products are expected to be introduced in 2002, such as electrical, voice/data, and CATV.
